In this article I shall explore from the Prophets one of the possibilities for those who will hear Eashoa say as He prophesied in Matthew 7 toward the end of the Sermon On The Mound.
DEPART FROM ME
I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.Matthew 7|22
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Back on the mound in Galil, Eashoa gave the multitude the sermon in Matthew 5. Here, He dispensed the rules of engagement in the Kingdom that this King brings with Him.
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
A believer who does not live by the Gospel, a believer who does not speak the Gospel to the lost are compared to salt that has lost its flavor to savor food and to act as natural preservatives against decay. That believer is good for nothing that means anything to the Lord. So this believer shall be cast out and be “trodden under foot of men”. This disobedient believer will be doing worse than the men who do not receive the Redeemer. That is a sobering thought.
In the Neviim, the Word of יהוה spoke to the Prophet Ezekiel in chapter 23.
28 For thus says Adonai Elohim: “Behold, I will give you into the hand of those you hate, into the hand of those you turned away from in disgust. 29 They will treat you with hatred, take all your property and leave you naked and exposed. The vulgarity of your prostitutions will be uncovered—your debauchery and your promiscuity. 30 These things will be done to you, for you have gone as a harlot after the nations, so you are defiled with their idols. 31 You have walked in the way of your sister, so I will give her cup into your hand.”
The harlot that was Israel switched heads. From the God of the Covenant that they were entered in, they turned elsewhere and gave love and union to the foreign gods.
It is a sobering thought to those who are in covenant with Elohiym.
